(OMAHA, Neb.) American National Bank and Peoples National Bank will hold a Women in Business luncheon on Thursday, June 19 at the UNO Alumni Center from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Featured speakers are Deborah Bass, President & CEO of Bass & Associates, an information technology consulting firm and Kathleen Piper, Deputy Director for the Nebraska Office of the Small Business Administration.

President of American National Bank, Steve Ritzman said the bank has long served the banking needs of businesses, regardless of ownership. "But," he said, "we believe it is time to formalize some of the services we provide to meet the more unique financial challenges women business owners face."

First Vice President, Retail Banking Director Kathy Kimball said she believes there is a real need to provide services to women whose goal it is to own a business. "Those who started their business several years ago experienced a lot of challenges when it came to funding their business," said Kimball. "We want to eliminate many of those challenges through an understanding of the issues facing women in our community regarding banking, finances, credit and other topics."

According to research from the Center for Women's Business Research, woman-owned businesses make up the fastest growing sector in the U.S. The growth rate of women-owned businesses is twice that of all privately owned businesses. Yet, the lack of access to adequate funding often forces women to pursue a service oriented business with a lower entry cost.

For reservations call Deb Vosika at 402-399-5056. The complimentary luncheon is open to any individual interested in starting their own business.
